Privacy
Last updated: 29 July 2026
Estella is a reader for public-domain books, available as this website and as an iOS app. It has no user accounts, no sign-in, and no advertising. We do not collect personal information, and we do not track you across apps or websites.
What stays on your device
Everything the app remembers about your reading is stored on your device only, and is never sent to us:
- Your position in a book, plus your font size and theme choice.
- Books you import yourself. EPUB and PDF files you add to My Booksare copied into the app’s private storage on your device. They are never uploaded, and we never see their contents, titles or filenames.
- On this website, the shelves you sort books into (Want to Read, Currently Reading, Loved) are kept in your browser’s local storage.
Deleting the app, or clearing your browser’s site data, removes all of it.
What reaches our servers
To show the library, the app and this website request the book catalogue and book files from our servers over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Those requests carry no identifier for you or your device.
As with any website, our hosting and storage providers (Vercel and Supabase) keep short-lived operational logs of incoming requests, which include IP addresses. We use these only to keep the service running and secure, we do not use them to build a profile of you, and we do not combine them with anything else.
What we don’t do
Estella contains no analytics, no advertising, no third-party tracking SDKs, and no social-network integrations. We do not sell or share any information, because we do not gather any to begin with.
Children
Estella is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date above.
